The Farndales of Tidkinhowe - for my own branch of the Farndale family, Tidkinhowe provided a focus for a large family of 12 children living near Guisborough, not so far from the dale of Farndale from which we take our name. By looking at this web-page, you can link to further detailed information on individuals of this family. It was many members of this family who emigrated to Canada and you will learn something of the background to why these men set off to start a new life.

Jim Farndale's diary - in 1913, the year after the sinking of the Titanic, James Farndale took the same step as a large number of Farndales at the time and travelled to Canada, to start a new life. I have his diary, and this links takes you straight to a transcript of the whole diary which provides a fascinating insight into the minds of these pioneers as they took this giant leap.
